The need to offer membership has risen in time due to businesses that are offering services. To better serve their customers’ needs, businesses, small and big, offered their services in the form of a membership.  Membership allowed them to group small services, for which they had to bill their customers each and every time, into a single package, which included all of the services plus a bonus. This led to better customer services, thus increasing customer satisfaction considerably.

Since most of the businesses were offering services that addressed a global customer, the need of a website became more and more obvious.

The creation of content management systems (CMS) makes everything easier since there is no longer the need of any coding or web-design knowledge to build a website, everything is out there, from website templates to different applications you might need.

Among the many CMS out there, one that has certain popularity due to the increasing community and the numerous available templates and extensions around it is Joomla.

One would only need a Joomla based site to get everything started. As we all know, Joomla is an open source Content Management System, for which you don’t have to pay a cent.  Joomla installation is pretty easy and intuitive.

Three essential components are needed:

A Hosting provider

One would need a place to host the website. Among the many hosting providers (1and1, godaddy, hostmonster, hostgator, etc.) out there you can always choose one. There are lots of offers going on these days. All you have to do is search.

A Joomla Template

There are many template providers out there who sell quality templates for prices ranging from 30$ to 50$. You can opt for a free template but there’s always a need for some custom work and there is no support for them.

All you have to do is a search on Google: Joomla 2.5 Templates or Joomla 3.0 Templates. Finding one that suits your needs is relatively easy.

A subscription component

Now we get to the part that we are interested in: the membership.  Among the many extensions out there our customers recommend PayPal Subscriptions Pro (created by CMSJunkie). Our customers say the component is relatively easy to set-up and use.  The subscription process is relatively easy since the personal information is being picked up from PayPal, subscriber will only have to log in their Paypal account and subscribe.

All together less than 100$.
