J-BusinessDirectory - Company type, Category and Sub-Category - not sure which to use for

I am now setting up my J-Business and I am not sure about the right structure.
What exactly is Company type used for?
And what for I can use Categorys?
Do I understand it right that company type is another type of Category in some way? Something like a Top-Level Category?
You set up different categories where business listings are related to.

Company defines the general "Main Category" or Industry e.g. Automotive
And with Categorys I can specifiy this more deeply and these Categorys will be used for offers and more too?
E.G.
Car - Builder
Car - Seller
Car - Spare Parts
In my understanding I can than leave Company type unused and work with Categorys ans Sub-Categorys only, right?

Yes, Type and Category aren't related, so you can set Type on Not Show in General Settings -> Attribute Configuration
