J-BusinessDirectory - Claim Business - Very Problematic

Support Forum

I'm having a lot of issues with the Claim Listing functon. I'll outline them one-by-one...

1. When clicking the Claim Listing button, two different pop ups are likely. The first is a small text box that indicates you need to be logged in to perform this funstion, with a link to log in. The second is what I'd like to see consistently - a real form that asks for information about the business owner, such as email, etc. I cannot figure out WHY I cannot get just one pup up to display consistently. please advise.

2. I've seen it stated repeatedly that the system uses default Joomla for the user function. When a listing is claimed, I can log in using the login credentials created. At a Super Admin level, I cannot see a new user. Not only can I not see a new user, I can actuslly use the username of an existing user, and then log in using that! What's going on here? Please explain.

3. Try as I might, I have not been able to locate the language file that relates to the text on display in the default login module. What is there CANNOT be over-ridden by just replacing text in Module settings, and clicking yes on "show greeting". Please explain where these files are located.

I'm an experienced directory operator and like this extension a lot. Unfortunately, the language files seem to be a mess. As a non programmer (but an experienced Joomla user) it is an infuriating process to try and sort your way through this. Sorting is necessary, as the English is appalling, and misspellings are very common. You need to develop a better way for users to manage text if I'm going to use this extension again.

OK. I've determined that the answer to question number 1 is that it deponds upon the user boing logged in. To claim the listing, the user actually needs to have created an account and be logged in BEFORE making the claim. I'm an experienced user and it was far from obvious to me. Somebody trying to claim a listing will just get completely pissed off with the process and leave. Really not good enough guys. Is there a decent work around for this?

Hi,

#1 In order to claim a business a user must have an account on your site. Only registered users can claim a business and manage it. There is no other way.

The popup for non login users says that you must be registered and provides you a link for this step. Do you have other sugestions?

#2 When a user creates an account on your site is should be visible under manage user section is Joomla. This is controlled only by Joomla. We use only the user id in our system.

#3 There are several login modules that we provide: mod_juserlogin and mod_jquerylogin. The language files are located under {joomla}/language/en-GB.

For business directory translation we will introduce an edit mechanism in the near future.
