J-BusinessDirectory - API Key = Failed ZIP Code Results

When I use my API key and search for a ZIP code the results display all business listings instead of only the ones within the X mile radius. If I look at the Geocode API in the console it shows 404 failures but doesn't give me any more details than that. I have tried disabling the Geocode and I still get the same results returned. Removing the API key fixes the issue. Any ideas?

Hi,

It seems that your zip code is not resolved correctly. Geocode API has been changed recently and it works only if you are using a Server key instead of a Browser key.

You have to go to your dashboard api and create a Server key.

You can now enter a key in the General Settings->Front end tab->Map Section->Google Map Key. (starting from directory version 4.5.1 RC)

After creating the browser key on your API Dashboard you need also to enable the services. You have to go to your API Manager overview screen and enable following service:

• Google Maps JavaScript API
• Google Static Maps API
• Google Places API Web Service 
   

The server API key solved problem. Geocode API also should be added to the list of services that need to be enabled.

What if my version is 4.4.0. Where can I update the api?

Hi,

In order to add the api key you have to upgrade to at least version 4.5.1.
You can download the latest version from your store account or you can do an automatic update from directroy extension update section.
