J-BusinessDirectory - Business type ordering on front end

Hi -
I have updated the software to the latested version, and hoped that it would change the problem we have with business listing ordering on the front end. It seems that it has no effect to order the business types in the back end, the front end doesn't change, and just does its own thing with the ordering in a haphazard fashion.

I would like our most common business types listed first (in our case associate members in an alphabetical sequence order, and then full members in alphabetical sequence.)

Hi,

Since version 4.3.2 you can set the default ordering on search results. We provide multiple ordering criterias.
If you have packages active the business listings are ordered based on packages ordering.
Currently we do not have an ordering based by type but we will keep this in mind for next releases.

Thanks - it would make a big difference to the professionalism of our site as in membership types being the business types, rather than the haphazard order that arises of its own accord.

if you need to a solution for this problem (sorting companies by type) and you have access to the database it's pretty simple.

Just go into your database and select the table _jbusinessdirectory_applicationsettings and search for column with name "order_search_listings". Change the value to: typeId asc  and your companies will be orderd by the type ;)

Currently the business listings can be sorted by package order, business id, business listing name, city, average rating, review score or randon.
We will add also type ordering in the near future.

Thank You Christian; I will see if I can do this - always been a little nervous about meddling in the db but have had reason to do so for some other things, so will give this a go.

George, please notify me when this is done - I will consider renewing the subscription then; my previous one didn't last long enough to sort out my problem :)
