J-BusinessDirectory - Dashboard versus control panel

In the logged in user dropdown (which I can't find in the native joomla menu admin pages), the user is redirected to a limited dashboard, rather than the full dashboard.

I don't think there is any reason for a registered user to only be redirected to the limited dashboard, unless I suppose they are never going to create a listing - and instead maybe only submit a review, place bookmarks?

But it is confusing. Is there a need to separate them out - rather than use the full control panel. And how to add a link to the full control panel into this logged in user dropdown.

I guess you talking about front end dashboard and backend control panel?

You can think of it as users that are not business users but get an account and then the frontend dashboard is where they have all their info in connection to the business directory. The backend control panel is for business owners that create business listings in every format and control their different apps etc

For example if you have business listings and one person do a quote request in one category then all business listings that belong to that category get a request for that quote. In the frontend dashboard the frontend user that requested that will have communication with different listings that answer back to that quote request for that specific category. Just one example why there is different dashboards for different user types...

Hope I understood that right :)

Thank you for your reply.

I get what you are describing, however, if a user has listing rights (and a listing published) surely the backend control panel should replace the front end dashboard in the logged-in username dropdown?

It's not professional to have a redundent front end dashboard for users with listings imo - plus the backend control panel never appears in the logged-in username dropdown at present.

And obviously it's confusing and another feature which is only half-finished imo. In my experience, it's the complete finishing off of a script (or anything actually) which marks something as outstanding and makes it lasting. Gettings things more or less working, but in a half-finished sort of way isn't a great achievement - or worth much imo.

Hi,

There are 2 front-end dashboards, one for business owners and one for end users.
If you use the user login module, you can set the business owner groups in the module settings.
Once a user login he will be redirected to corresponding dashboard.
You can also access the dashboards through the menu items.

Oh the setting in the log in module is brilliant!!! :D

Thank you :)

Btw, what does the 'Show business owner check' option refer to please.
