J-BusinessDirectory - Geolocation distance to business

Hi,

When searched for a business (with geolocation), the distance isn't showing correctly.

For example: a search result shows a business at a distance of 3.8 km.
When going to Google maps directions, the distance is 8.4 km.

Is it also possible that when a distance is within 1 kilometer, the distance is shown in meters?

instead of 0.1km, 100 meters.

The 3.8km stands for the aerial distance as opposed to the road distance of 8.4km. This is the standard of calculating distance between 2 locations. 

For the distance to display in meters we'll have to look into. 

Well, since jetpacks, helicopters or other airtransportation isn't commonly used by most of us, this seems like a useless calculation. I've played around with other components, and all of them make use of the road distance. 

Please make my day and say it's possible to change this to road distance.

Is it possible that one of your developers can implement that feature? I'm willing to pay for development, because I really like the component, but the road distance is a must, because in this country people travel by road ;)

It's enabled in the default Google Maps API, so I think it would not be too hard to implement.

If custom development by your developers isn't possible, could you please help me to implement it myself? Which files need to be edited? I know that the core needs to be modified, so updating could be a problem, but I'm willing to take that risk.

Unfortunatelly, we had to rollback this feature as it was introducing penalities in the search performance. We'll look further into a better soultion.
