J-BusinessDirectory - JBusiness Directory Questions

I'm considering purchasing the JBusiness Directory - I'm really excited about all it has to offer - especially the offers :). 

I have a  couple of  questions though  - on the demo site when I am entering test data, it doesn't have a place to enter company information yet on the front end, it has Company Details listed. 

Also, I don't see in the offers form - a place to add a category - is this part of it?  Isn't there an option in the directory to search for offers by category? 

Is there a way to change the format for the date ?  instead of  24 Apr 2013 making it Apr 24 2013? 

In the directory itself, I see there is an option for Catalog  - I assume this is a list of products, and not business.  What if we dont want the caregory Catalog - can we get rid of that?  Also, where is the list of just company names that are in the directory?

Sorry for all the questions -  my boss doesn't consider $99.00 a small amount, and we want to make sure it will do what we want it to do before we purchase it.

Hi,

The company informations can be entered using the control panel in front-end. When you log in using demo/demo you should be able to see a Control Panel link. It will give you access to enter company information and company offers.

Company offers are categorised by company categories. When searching for specific category, it will show the offers from the companies that have assigned the specified category.

About date formats, we can change the date format directly on your server.

Catalog is the list of categories by letters. It can be disabled very easy by disabling the menu.

I guess I'm just doing something wrong  - I did enter a business - I did enter a coupon - I don't see how I match the coupon and the business together.    I entered qvc company and entered 10 windows as a coupon  -  i don't see anything on either one that refers to the other.   

I work for a home and garden show - I'll be entering ALL the date for each of our exhibitors.  They will not be accessing the site themselves.  So I want to be able to enter a company name - their website and contact info and then enter a coupon for them if they have one.  

Also about the coupon -  what if someonen is giving a discount of 10% off of all their trees.  How would I do that?   I wouldn't want to list each item individually just would want to have one coupon that says 10% discount.  Isd that possible?

Video post does not work. The user manual says nothing. I have input you tube links and nothing works. How do I fix this???? Everything else works fine and I love this product except for this one video issue.

 To set a video you need to get the embedded video URL.  To do that go to youtube.com, get the desired video, right click on it, choose Copy Embedded HTML. Paste this in a editor.  You’ll see something like this

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kxmO2IdVlhU?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You need the copy src of the iframe, for example: http://www.youtube.com/embed/kxmOdVlhU

Currently only YouTube videos are accepted.

I have some questions regarding Category Management.

1. When I select from the menu to show Categories if there are no sub-categories then the Category is not shown as a link? This is a probelm as I want to link to the main category not just the sub-categories.

2. If I edit a company from the backend, in the section Company Categories, if a category has no sub-categories and is selected from the dropdown list nothing is added to the Available Categories section?

Also I would expect the link to a category to be SEO friendly but they are not, do I need to do something to achieve this?

1. Currently you have to have a subcategory. We will be changing this for furture releases. 

2. For this you need to select a subcategory. This is how it works for now. We will be changing this for furture releases.

I notice that the new release for JBusinss Directory is available 2.2.0. I have already purchased 2.1.0 and want to know how to get an upgrade as it is not available from my account?

Also does the import companies from a CSV work as the manual I have suggests that it does not yet work?

You will receive the new version by e-mail.

The new version contains the import from csv feature. We manage to import for one of our customer 190.000 business listings.

I am trying to insert HTML code into the "offer description" field of business offer. The field is not confirgured to accept HTML though, it only accepts text. Is it possible to change this to allow the field to accept HTML?
