J-BusinessDirectory - Problems during import process

Support Forum

First, importing data with special characters like ü, ä, ß does not seem to work. The csv file when opened with a text editor, shows those characters ok, but after import they do not show correctly in the backend. What is wrong here?

Second, I created categories before importing and set the category names correctly in the csv file, but after importing, the listings are not set with any category at all.

Then I deleted all existing categories in the backend, and import with the categories given in the csv file. The categories were now created, but no categories were assigned to the listings created???

Hi,

Importing special characters is working but you need to have the right file encoding.
The csv file must be encoded in UTF-8.

For the category issue please make sure that there are no spaces between the category names on the csv file.
If the issue persists please create a ticket on our store and provide us the csv file.

here is a look at the file that I used to test the import process:

I have only created top-level categories, no subcategories.

Also, now I have one business type set, but I am unable to assign a business type to my categories?

"For the category issue please make sure that there are no spaces between the category names on the csv file. "

Does that mean the category names in the backend may not have spaces in them? Also, in the manual, you give an example for a csv file where the category name is "Automotive parts"

Hi,

The csv file seems to be OK.
Please create a ticket on our store and provide us joomla admin access to check this.

I retried the whole process with a UTF-8 formatted csv file and now it seems verything is working, including the assigning of categories.

On the first try, with app. 8000 listings in the file, I got an error message. is there a limit to the number of listings I can import in one go?

Hi,

There is no limitation regarding the number of listings that can be imported from our side.

The number of listings that can be imported can be limited by the execution time.
Usually, the execution time is set to 30 seconds. You can extend that to import more listings.
