J-BusinessDirectory - Put directory on main domain or subdomain? SEO

Hi! I am creating a website with a lot of content that I wish to rank well in search. I also want a business directory and just purchased j-directory. Was wondering how others were setting this up for best SEO. If I set it up as a subfolder on the main directory (www.mysite.com/directory/county/city/business-name, will it drag down the ranking of my website since the directory will have hundreds of pagest that are not going to get any links and are thin content? Was thinking I might put the directory on a subdomain e.g. directory.mysite.com/county/state/business-name, so that Google will see them as separate websites? Any thoughts on this would be helpful! Thank you!

Also, if I go the subdomain direction (directory.mysite.com), is there a way to have a directory search module on my mane directory (www.mysite.com) that redirects to the subdirectory (directory.mysite.com)? and if so, will it direct to the appropriate search results?

Hope that makes sense. THanks!

Thanks!

Hi,

Please find our answers bellow.

#1 solution - www.mysite.com/directory/county/city/business-name

At beginning it is possible that you site ranking to decrease because you are adding new pages with low ranking. The ranking may increase if you have traffic and quality content. If you make the directory popular this will increase the overall ranking, if not it might decrease it.
There are some risks with this solution. If you already have a successful business we do not recommend this solution.

#2 solution - directory.mysite.com/county/state/business-name

Google will see this a separate site and it will start from zero. The problems with this solution is that sub-domains do not get good ranking from google. If all goes well you can move it to main site.

#3 solution create a new website for this.

Thank you for your help. I will be going the directory.mysite.com direction.
