J-BusinessDirectory - Quality-of-Life Change Ideas

We have been setting up a directory for a client using this software and though this extension is quite good there are a few items we noticed that could be improved:

Front-end Management by Admins

Currently Administrators and above cannot see all the listings in the directory.  While having owners be able to edit their own listings is good, often in our experience a directory is managed by the admins of the site itself, and as such should be able to see all listings in the front end to edit them as needed.  We have actually managed to add this functionality in by adding two sets of code to two files, and can provide these code changes if requested.

Auto-publishing Listings

We have enabled the ability to ignore "unapproved" listings, however it would be better if there was an option to just flat out approve a listing upon creation, especially if the listing was created by an admin.  Currently you cannot unpublish an unapproved listing right from the Companies list, so this adds complication down the road.

No pagination in Companies list

The front end list of companies in the Management interface doesn't have any pagination functionality.  This means that the only way to see all listings is to set the limit to "All".

The listings can be managed from admin area. You can provide access on administrators to business listing section and not to all features on admin.

Auto-publishing Listings
We will add the possibility for listing that are created on admin to be automatically approved.
You should be able to unpublish a listing that is not approved. Why you cannot do that?

No pagination in Companies list
Pagination was not entered on front-end because in a regular case a business owner does not have more than 5 listings to manage.
