J-BusinessDirectory - Updates and Addons subscription

Support Forum

Anyone else getting confused and slightly annoyed with the updates and subscription packages/process.

I have the updates subscription, but this only does the main script not any of the addons I have.

But if I update the main script via the subscription package the addons don't work so the whole process is worthless without purchasing each new addon whether it's been installed weeks, months or years.

Surely the updates should include all your purchases not just the main script!

Hi,

On our website, you were using modules that were deprecated (had the deprecated name in the title) and that's why the issues were caused.
There should be no issue when an update is performed if you are using up to date modules.

George,

I think you miss the point of the question or statement.

The website says there is an update available.

You click on and do the automatic update or download and do it manually.

Once it's done you expect everything to updated.

Is this not the process?

Unfortunately, there is no documentation stating that some modues need to be changed or updated seperately.
Consequently, there is nothng that says some addons wil not work with theupdate without purchasing them again seperately, even if you've only just purchased within months. Thankfully you provided the update on this occassion anyway, much appreciated.

Hence saying why it's frustrating.

Nearly if not every time I have done an update that becomes available it creates a problem and I have to request support, which, is brilliant I must stress and thankfully available normally within 24 hours.

Have a great day, just trying to get updates process highlighted that it needs change to incorporate much more and addons included, to ensurethe website continues to function as it should.

Hi,

The deprecated modules are maintained anymore and you will not see an update notice for them. They have been replaced with other modules.
We have mentioned about this replacement several times in our release notes and also added the deprecated keyword on the title.
You should not have any issues from this point on.

I have to add that I agree with the above statement. If you buy a module it should come with a years update just as the extension does. At least the core modules that make the directory function. It is in some ways an improvement to seperate them, but after this update if i want the content module to work I will have to buy it for the third time this year, which will make it $75. Now if i have to do this for every module after each update the extension becomes very costly beyond the initial cost.
