J-BusinessDirectory - JBD - Metadata Title & Description - A JBD Weakness

I wonder if CMS has any future plans to improve upon the Metadata structure on JBD?

I believe this is the biggest weakness of JBD, for example:

   1. When Admin or Users enter a business listing there are NO Metadata fields available.

   2. The Metadata Fields only appear when Admin or a User Edits a listing.

I can live with the above; however, the bigger problem is when No Metadata is entered, JBD should grab Metadata from the following fields:

   1. Meta Title > Business Name

   2. Meta Description > Short Description

Basically, as I understand, we are running dead websites, if no Metadata is entered on business listings.

Until now, the default metadata completed in the general settings was used when no metadata was entered by the user.
It is better to use the listing details as metada. Metadata will also be available when creating a new listing on admin.

George,

Are you saying there already were changes or that there will be changes in the future?

This is my understanding of how Metadata currently works on JBD:

  1. User enters a business listing

  2. User does not enter metadata

  3. User saves their business listing

  4. User opens their business listing to edit.

  5. The Metadata fields are all empty.

It appears that JBD is not grabbing metadata from anywhere as the fields always remain empty:

For SEO purposes, I believe, it is not recommended that most business listings use the EXACT SAME Metadata entered from the General Settings.

Yes I agree dont see any metadata there as Joe says..

It is amazing what some developers are doing with their metadata setups.

With Flynax I could enter metadata such as the following:

   - [category] for Sale in [country], [region], [city] for only [price].

   - [title] in [country], [region], [city]

There was an assortment of different tags that could be added to the metadata.

I think, in all, there were about 10 different ones.

We will improve the metadata for items in the 5.7.3 version.

If the item metadata fields are not entered, the metadata is generated based on the item content (title, description, short description, keywords).
If you enter the metadata in the item fields, this will override the metadata generated by the item content.
This is how it is since a few years now.

"This is how it is since a few years now."

I kindly disagree:

However, let me emphasize: IT IS WORKING NOW (to avoid confusion).

The metadata is not automatically populated on the edit form, it is generated on the front-end details page.
You can check it by inspecting the code.
