J-BusinessDirectory - Search function very slow

After i press j-businessdirectory search it takes 20 seconds before results are shown.

How can make it faster?

Can you give us some information about how many business listing, categories, custom attributes do you have?

300 000 business listings (only 7 of these approved and state published) imported from csv where name, county and registration id field filled, other fields empty

We have checked the search functionality and the only way to increase the speed is to make the category mandatory on search. Otherwise there will be a high number of interconnections between database tables that will make your search slow.

I installed the new search module but it's still slow. Both category and area are selected and search takes about 10 seconds.

Should joomla cache settings affect search speed?

The search is already optimized. In order to improve the speed we need to test them on your enviroment to see if it's possible or useful.

You can try to optimize your mysql server also.
