J-BusinessDirectory - Limit Number of Categories

Is there a limit to the number of categories supported? Somewhere between 2500 and 3000 categories, j-business slows down significantly on the frontend and backend. I've imported 2,500 categories with no performance hit. After performing the next import of 500 categories, bringing the total categories close to 3000, j-business on the frontend takes 12 - 15 seconds to load. On the backend, accessing the general settings takes 16 seconds to load.

Wow, so many categories.

Anything with that many categories is bound to have slowness issues.

The problem might also lie with the speed of your hosting provider?

I dialed back the categories to less than 1000 and performance returned. The following was suggested via a support request:

There are 3 solutions.
1. Limit the search fields and search filter fields. (set also map custom markers to no in the general settings)
2. Limit the listings to one category and modify the whole mechanism.
3 Another solution would be to have an ElasticSearch index integrated.

I will be exploring option 3 once I get around to importing the 10k+ active listings I currently have
