J-BusinessDirectory - Are individual addresses supposed to be geolocated on import?

First, kudos to the developers for a fantastic product.

I have both Google API keys set up correctly, and the address autofill works when typing an address in the business listing location tab.

What I would like to know is, are addresses supposed to be geolocated when they are imported from CSV? What is happening is that the latitude and longitude are being set to a fixed location within the ZIP code area. I thought I had read somewhere that the addresses would be geocoded upon import.

Hi,

The map coordinates are translated from the zip code on the import if the "Google map key - zipcode" is entered and it set correctly. It needs to have no referer.

Hi George

I think you mean "The map coordinates are translated from the zip code and the address on the import..." If that's the case, it's not working.

I have my Google API key in the  "Google map key - zipcode" field. The APIs that are enabled are:

Maps JavaScript
Maps Static API
Places API

I have also tried adding the Geocoding API, but to no avail.

My API key is unrestricted, and there is no referrer (Application restrictions: none). Is there something that I'm missing? Are the above three APIs the correct ones?

I'm still in need of help George, when you have an opportunity.

Many thanks.

Hi,

You can easily check if the map service is working OK by doing a zipcode search without using the autocomplete and see if the zip code is decoded correctly.
If the location search executes correctly then the map coordinates should be translated correctly.

Yes, the map service is working great. It locates my city when I search by postal code, and it decodes addresses that I enter into the business listing back end. In fact it works for Google and Open Maps, although OpenMap puts the county (province) in the state (region) field.

The problem is that your J-BusnessDirectory doesn't decode addresses when mporting a correctly formatted CSV. It only decodes the ZIP code. In fact, no request is made from Google at the time of import. The only communication is with my own server. There is communication with Google when I open a listing to edit it.

Does this geodecode on import work for anyone?
