Hi!

its great with the new video and I like it but seems that you can only use Youtube videos?

Good to have some discussion here about how to improve this feature(s).

I would like to see that you also can upload your own videos and fmpg them too before buying using this video uploader. Will this improvements coming and I will also use and buy this addon.

Hope to get some update and discussion about that here.

We always seem to be on the same page. ????

Having a video uploader will require a lot of resources.
Most probably, we will extend the video services that can be used.

Sorry for hijacking this topic, thumbs up for adding more video providers to the module George.

And if I may add one comment regarding "Having a video uploader will require a lot of resources." this is true but shouldn't that choice be on owner of website to allow/use or not? Not all websites have lacking resourses regarding hosting.

Keep up the good work ;)

This post was to discuss this David so good you chip in. I agree what you say and JBD video could/should support ffmpeg upload/conversion for videos/audios.   https://ffmpeg.org/  I use this for EasySocial videos where you have a choice to upload or set a url to video providers as alternatives.

So would be good if JBD videos also have path and use ffmpeg for video uploading with some settings..

Yes could be something similar like this example: https://yendifplayer.com/demo/frontend-video-submission.html

and similar like this free player:  https://allvideoshare.mrvinoth.com/create-category

converting videos would take all of your server resources and give your website a bad user experience.

The only correct way to do that would be to have a completely separate workload server and even that depending on how many users are uploading at once would need a series of server racks alone.

Yes of its resource intensive and also good to have a mix where you should have an option to use Youtube, Vimeo etc also in combination.

Have you tried this solution with your own upload videos hmm ? No you have not tested this and make it work on a powerful server bcs it works very well if you can set it up correctly. But you can use it on sloppy hostings with little cpu and memory power etc. If you set up this correctly it would not harm other users and usage as well if you fine tune how your system should work. Most hosting companies do this also if they have this option in the package.

I do this with EasySocial where users upload and convert their videos and its working very well with latest updated php software and hardware we use. Ok you need storage but we have less than 172 terrabyte storage capacity so hope that helps for a while and if need more we will use cdn with storage capacity as well.

So it would be nice to have this solution work both ways for upload and video youtube etc sharing.

What you think?
