Hi,
When using the first field of the search module, the one that is specific for Business Name or Category, I found that it is case sensitive. If I write "Organic" (with capital O) I get some results, but when writing "organic" or "ORGANIC" I get no results.
Curiously, this doesn't happen in your demo site, so I must be missing something.
Please advice.
Best regards.
Hi guys.
In my case, when I write a word in the business search field, the results are displayed only when the word matches exactly with the content, that is, case sensitivity. For example, if I write 'organic', no results are displayed, but if I write 'Organic' (with capital O), the demo business called 'Organic food' shows up.
Note.- this doesn't happen in the demo site, so I must be missing something.
Please advice.
Best regards.
Hi,
To cause a case-sensitive comparison of nonbinary strings to be case insensitive, use COLLATE to name a case-insensitive collation. The strings normally are case sensitive, but COLLATE changes the comparison to be case insensitive: COLLATE latin1_bin
Thanks a lot, George.
Just for forum reference, I used Akeeba Admin Tools to reestablish my database collation using the function "Change Database Collation". I selected utf_general_ci (Joomla's default and the right choice for spanish characters) and hit 'Apply'.
Results are now shown without case sensitivity, as expected.
Best regards.
